In the Java community there's been a rush of lightweight containers that help to assemble components from different projects into a cohesive application. in the book about enterprise architecture. Of course there's a good reason for that - the book is about enterprise application architecture, that is how to design enterprise applications. Get this from a library! Java application architecture: modularity patterns with examples using OSGi. [Kirk Knoernschild].
Java Application Architecture: Modularity Patterns with Examples Using OSGi: A Roadmap for Enterprise Development (Agile Software Development) - by Kirk Knoernschild TLDR: This book is a thought-provoking peek into a topic that I believe will be highly influential in the next stage of evolution within software craftsmanship. The concepts presented within this book sit nicely. The use of SWT over Swing in Eclipse split the Java community. Some saw conspiracies, but Eclipse was a success and the use of SWT differentiated it from other Java programs. Eclipse was performant, pixel perfect and the general sentiment was, "I can't believe it's a Java program." Early Eclipse SDKs ran on Linux and Windows.
Whether you’re using OSGi today, getting ready for modularity in Java 8, or want to start realizing the benefits of modularity using plan ole’ Java, you’ll find the book provides valuable guidance. The goal is simple – Java Application Architecture helps you design modular software today! Then you can design the architecture that supports your goals, instead of choosing an architecture first and trying to make an application fit within that structure. Consider how frequently you want to release updates to meet customer or operational needs, as well as what functionality is required by either business objectives or development needs.

* In regards to the review stating 'not a general software architecture book' I respectfully think the reviewer has missed the point of this book - 'Java Application Architecture' is clearly aimed at a well-defined and often over-looked niche within the software architecture domain, and should not be considered in by: 6.

“Along with GOF’s Design Patterns, Kirk Knoernschild’s Java Application Architecture is a must-own for every enterprise developer and architect and on the required reading list for all Paremus engineers.” —Richard Nicholson, Paremus CEO, President of the OSGi Alliance “In writing this book, Kirk has done the software community a File Size: 1MB.
So I went and bought his book “Java Application Architecture” in order to learn more about what he has to say. It turned out to be a book that every advanced developer or architect should : Jens Schauder. I hesitate to post links to any Java EE standards, because the changes made in going to EJB make a lot of the "best practices" of earlier versions obsolete.
Object-relational mapping is now embodied in JPA; Spring has introduced ideas like dependecy injection and aspect-oriented programming.
Java Application Architecture lays the foundation you’ll need to incorporate modular design thinking into your development initiatives. Before it walks you through eighteen patterns that will help you architect modular software, it lays a solid foundation that shows you why modularity is a critical weapon in your arsenal of design tools.
This is the eBook version of the printed book. “I’m dancing. By god I’m dancing on the walls. I’m dancing on the ceiling. I’m ecstatic. I’m overjoyed. I’m really, really pleased.” –From the Foreword by Robert C. Martin (a.k.a.
Uncle Bob) This isn’t the first book on Jav. Application architecture is a challenging topic, as evidenced by the wide variety of books, articles, and white papers on the subject.
It is still too hard for developers and architects to File Size: 3MB. Java EE 8 brings with it a load of features, mainly targeting newer architectures such as microservices, modernized security APIs, and cloud deployments.
This book will teach you to design and develop modern, business-oriented applications using Java EE 8. For Java developers working with Spring applications, a thorough understanding of the Spring Security architecture and its implementation is critical.
In 'Spring Security in Action,' author Author: Katie Donegan. It primarily illustrates the technical aspects of the microservice architecture and so the business logic is minimal The documentation is sparse/non-existent and you will need to look in the book The application consists of many services and so requires a lot of memory.
The journey starts with a review of the evolution of distributed computing and n-tier application architecture. I will then show how the Java EE platform architecture addresses the difficulties in developing distributed applications.
You will also learn about the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural principle. I'll then combine MVC. Aimed at beginners, this comparatively-short and inexpensive book requires only a basic level of experience with Java or similar programming language to get started.
Available in printed or ebook form, it takes the reader through Android development from. Just like the platform itself, the Java EE patterns catalog has evolved over time.
As discussed earlier, this catalog was first formed as part of Sun's Java BluePrints and later elaborated on in the book Core J2EE Design Pattern (Prentice Hall, ). Table 1 presents the patterns with a brief description of each and its associated layer.
Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture is written in direct response to the stiff challenges that face enterprise application developers. The author, noted object-oriented designer Martin Fowler, noticed that despite changes in technology--from Smalltalk to CORBA to Java --the same basic design ideas can be adapted and applied /5().
This is a loaded question. I am sure the answer will change over the time. Java Architecture space is changing constantly, so you may have to keep reading the books on latest technological changes in Java and related frameworks like- Spring, Hiber.
Java Application Architecture book question - Modularity. Alexis Lopez. Greenhorn Posts: 7. posted 8 years ago. I'm working on a Web application developed with Oracle ADF. My question is whether it is possible to apply modularity to Web applications regardless of the framework they were developed with.
